Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground pork sausage
  • ½ lb. bacon
  • ½ cup finely-diced green bell pepper
  • ½ cup finely-diced onion
  • 2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • 6 large eggs
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup Bisquick
  • ½ cup salted butter, melted

Instructions

Cook the Sausage and Bacon

  • Spray a 9 x 13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray and set it aside. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground sausage until it’s no longer pink. Drain off any excess grease and transfer the sausage to the prepared baking dish.Next, use the same skillet to cook the bacon until it’s crispy. Remove the bacon and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Once cooled, chop or crumble the bacon into small pieces.

Add Vegetables and Cheese

  • To the sausage in the baking dish, add the cooked bacon, finely-diced green bell pepper, onion, and grated sharp cheddar cheese. Stir everything together to distribute the ingredients evenly.

Prepare the Egg Mixture

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk (or heavy cream), Bisquick, and melted butter until smooth.

Assemble the Casserole

  • Pour the egg mixture evenly over the sausage, bacon, vegetables, and cheese in the baking dish. Ensure everything is covered with the egg mixture. Cover the dish with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and refrigerate it overnight.

Bake the Casserole

  • The next morning, take the casserole out of the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for 30-60 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).Bake uncovered for 50-60 minutes, or until the casserole is browned on top and the eggs are set in the center.

Rest and Garnish

  • Let the casserole rest for at least 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with sliced green onions or fresh herbs like parsley or chives.

Serve

  • Slice the casserole and serve warm. Enjoy the savory combination of sausage, bacon, vegetables, and cheese in every bite!
